Choose transport for your time and needs
Travel to the Grand Mosque is not only a distance question. Prayer time, road density, walking ability, family size and the permitted arrival point all affect the best option. Keep a return plan and allow extra time instead of relying on one fixed journey duration.
You may combine methods during one stay: walk when conditions suit, use a licensed ride service with luggage, or use public transport or the hotel shuttle when its route is clearer.
Walking and licensed ride services
A map’s shortest line may not show the practical entrance, gradient, pedestrian density or controlled direction of travel. Judge the route by the slowest person in your group and keep an alternative for children, older guests or hot weather.
With taxis or licensed apps, agree a clear meeting point, verify the vehicle and driver in the app, and expect pickup points to change during busy periods. Do not rely on an unofficial link or street offer.
Makkah Buses
Makkah Buses operate a public transport network with official route and ticket information. A public route is not the same as a hotel shuttle route, and ordinary-route tickets may not apply to shuttle services. Confirm the route number, direction and return stop in the official app or website on the day you travel.
Arak Al Shariah shuttle
According to the hotel’s current operating information, the shuttle circulates on route B2, which serves the hotel and nearby properties. For the return, guests use the hotel-bus stop behind Swiss Inn near the Clock Towers and can take the first bus operating on B2.
During congestion, a departure may be around 30 minutes before prayer, but this is not a guaranteed year-round timetable. Ramadan, Hajj, traffic and official arrangements can change times or access points. Confirm the current departure and return instructions with reception on the day.
A return plan that reduces confusion
Before leaving, save the hotel name, map pin and telephone number. Ask how to recognise the bus and where to return. Agree a family meeting point, leave a realistic time margin and confirm the route before boarding.

- Save the drop-off and return point on the map.
- Carry water and essential medication.
- Keep an alternative if the first method is unavailable.
Airport and Haramain train arrivals
Travel from Jeddah Airport or the Haramain train station is separate from daily transport to the Haram. Give the driver the hotel’s official address and contact number. Allow for seasonal traffic and the permitted vehicle entrance rather than promising a fixed journey time.
